Chief community

Resolutions, resolutions and rezzylutions.

Miskwaa zagai ganing anishinabeg o o ogemaawajig ishpenimago yeg minawaa Gicho ogemawajig. Excuse the typos in ojib.
Redlake is one of the only tribes which acknowledges their hereditary Chiefs. What does this mean to many other Ojibwe tribes? Nothing! Hereditary Chief today means that we can wear a picture of a chief on a shirt and that by wearing this symbol or trademark, it makes us more Indian or that we live a lifestyle of a Chief.
It's like the notion that Indians are sovereign. Tribes are sovereign, not individual band members of the tribe. The federal legislation and the systems in place do not allow us Indians to be SOVEREIGN INDIVIDUALS.
Many Indian communities do not want or can fathom the thought of possessing their own form of traditional government-THE GOVERNMENTS THAT WERE PART OF OUR TRADITIONAL CULTURE. NOT the modern-day current R.B.C.'s. If any of our communities cannot fathom the idea of a traditional form of government in their community, then you have to tell yourself that the belief system of many Indian communities has been compromised, compromised by the Federal Government. This compromised sense of thinking tells our sub-conscious that CHIEFS ARE OF THE PAST AND THEY ARE DEAD. Dead in the sense that, we believe in the power of money, but not the power of our Chiefs. If we could start teaching our children about Chiefs and that they are living, breathing, pay your bills type of people, we would have less depression, suicide, alcoholism, and drug use, to name a few.  We are more than that, we are the vessels granted by the Great Spirit to guide our people and open their eyes to their selfish ways. It is to guide the people through this world pandemic and re-teach the people, that fear is not part of our genetic makeup and that "fear" is a brainwashing tool used by the Whitman. Chiefs are more than speakers, they are Spiritual beings, medicine men, and truth seekers to name a few.  Above all, WE ARE HUMAN BEINGS FIRST AND FOREMOSTLY. We are appointed by the Spirits, not by humans.
However, we really shouldn't allow ourselves, in our own state of mind to identify with the Chieftainship values and code of ethics. These codes of ethics are in many ways - too hard to live by and go against many of our modern-day work ethics - and all of it's associated pyramid power structure, not to forget policy and procedure.

You cannot fully implement a Chieftain - a traditional way of life - even within the reservation - the working-ethical - a system in place, does not acknowledge or care about a person's feelings and or gender(yes women and men have teachings).
Most of the modern-day- working-class Indians(Anishinabe) cannot accept a hereditary Chief - Traditional form of work environment - due to the whole idea as inconceivable and that the white workforce has dominated the country since its inception. The whole working experience - from beginning to end is set up in western ideal practices. These business practices have not been challenged in tribal courts, because the courts are set up with the same system. We attend higher education and institutes, to study the professional business of the white world. Many of the experiences and ideas we learn at these facilities, we own, possess, and make them part of our own belief system. We then get hired by a tribal reservation and bring our new white driven policy and guidelines with us.  Once we are finished with our probation period, we then continue the domination of the Chieftain - a traditional way of thinking, lifestyle, and culture. We assist in the process of eliminating the local traditions and beliefs with the blessing of our hirees, the tribes, or tribal councils.
EDUCATION

The modern-day education experience is designed to keep us divided, controlled, dumbed down, and institutionalized like a modern-day felon(did I forget to say religious ceremony for 12 plus years). Yet, we consider ourselves better off than the felon(haha). I mean think about it, freedom of speech is taken out of the school system - we have to raise our hands to speak, we have to be granted permission to relieve our bodily fluids. Indian boarding schools are still real, except we don't get beat, some teachers have become more clever than that, they repeatedly beat our souls and minds. I once heard that most teachers are control freaks. I, both as a student and a fellow employee, would concur with that statement. Tribal societies have failed our children and Grandchildren, by continuing to allow the learning curve to be one way and one way only when it comes to education. We have forgotten what our natural ways of learning look like, what it smells like, and what is healthy to our children's souls.

Some of us that have the luxury of attending higher education institutes attend a tribal specific class or program. What we fail to conceive in our own imagination, is that the poison is still there, the poison of the white rhetoric that undermines the whole school experience. Attending a tribal class or graduating from a tribal program is great but it still is a lie and reinforces the white system within our own professions and personal experiences. Except now, we have an Indian twist to our degree, professional functions, and our state of mind. Don't get me wrong, we have to be able to read and write and that's it. Think about it. Most of us experience our first set of lies when we attend head start, early ed. or kindergarten. If we have to take school supplemented transportation, we have to wait and we have to wait day in and day out. We make our children go out in below zero weather and think of it as normal. What does our culture say about this practice? Where are our elder's teachings and guidance during these early years of our children's programming? Whether we believe it or not, we condition, condition, condition, and assist in brainwashing our children's minds with white - policy-driven- ploys - tactics and lies. Do we not wonder why the graduation rate for Natives is still low? Have we not figured out that our youth have figured out the lies that manifest on the bus, the hallways, the cafeteria, with the other children and the whole infrastructure? Hmm. Hmm.

I guess you could say that if you like school, you are a good liar. Oh wait, you will become a great liar. YOu have to believe that school is greater than your Anishinabeg culture right? You have to believe that the culture is dull, has no ethics, has no discipline for time, and is just boring. Your new to the cultural experience, so then you hit up the local cultural people and start to mingle with the culture. It's a good thing to mingle but how far are you willing to go? Is the culture you are looking for just to implement a few Anishinabeg language and history classes in the local school? Is your cultural mingle driving your desire to resurrect the language? All good stuff but you see, the underline policies where education gets their funding is white rhetoric - white classism - white, white. I guess you could say it's white all the way from the queen and her conquest of vast territories. The modern-day school experience has destroyed our thirst for our culture and all of its traditional teachings. We have to start selecting culturally orientated people - that are 100%. This means many things and we have to be able to hear the truths and experiences that these people have retained by not fully being engulfed by white culture. We have to start brainstorming what our worlds looked like 200 years ago. We have to remember that learning the language is only part of the solution. Blah, Blah, Blah.

So, why did you attend higher ed? Did you attend higher ed. because you wanted to experience a new way of life? Did you attend because everyone in your family attended and it was the right thing to do? Did you attend because you wanted to make a better salary and be "better off?" I know it's none of my business but ask yourself this question; In a traditional/wholistic setting of long ago, didn't the Chief know everyone's business????

A chiefs view of the colonized Red America, part 2

Chiefs and I am not talking about the Kansas City ones, had to make very tough decisions with the aide of their woman and wives. jk.
The integrity of keeping the sacred realm of the natural order of life was always on a Chiefs mind. Never wanting to upset any type of balance to any eco-system.
Mind you that Hereditary Chiefs in this day and age do not posses the virtue, love, compassion and respect that they did in the past. This is not to say that our Hereditary Chiefs of today are weak minded and self serving. The problems lie within our people as a whole and our compromised belief system in today's modern world.
For centuries, Red America has been bombarded by the Euro-centric value system as a whole. From the legislation procesess to the everyday business practice that governs our day to day lives.

You ever ask your self WHY? Why has our people accepted the 9-5 job systems and WHY- isn't anyone seeing this madness and saying anything. The systems we have been forced to live in has been prescribed to all of us and the hillbilly white people from the queen of England many centuries ago. The first corporation ever set up in North America was the Hudson bay company. You have to ask yourself - "what happened to all of our fur bearing relatives due to the business practice of the Hudson bay company?" And than, we see some of our tribes try and have "CORPORATE" style business practices. How is a child not to grow up being business orientated and self serving. Sounds like tribal officials right??

As our people have been trying to survive and "get along" they have indoubtably accepted many eurocentric(Euro-American-my term) ideas, values and beliefs over many decades. These value systems have entered our children s minds and hearts, through different avenues and transmission lines in the name of modern day education, health and economics. A chiefs view of the colonizied Red America

As the winter of 2014 is behind me and my families lives, I cant help to think of the future of Red America and the colonized society
that we have to live in. We as Aboriginal people have been so divided by socio/economic classes, that it is going to take eye opening struggles to gain some sense of balance back to our communities.
Take for example fossil fuels and every aspect of our lives that they affect; from our breakfast to our cosmetics, laundry detergent, bath tissues, toothpastes and tooth brushes, shampoo and towels, our fried bread recipes to the food that we stick in our mouths and lastly the way we travel around our Red America, mostly by the modern day automobile.
Fossil fuels affect our lives more than we actually stop and think about. What are we teaching our children about these fossil fuels and how they are manufactured no differently than a drug.......For us to consume and be addicted. We all are addicted to the fossil fuel poison. Our Native Nations need to put their tribal differences to the side and figure out who are powwow warriors, brave warriors, elder warriors and real warriors. I think most of us know that our Tribal council warriors are not meeting our true needs for our economic independence. They are self serving and serve the Federal government and say something to the effect "Look we are good ole Indians and we will behave."
Well I say Fuck that and lets start having real powwows to acknowledge and start planning new ways of becoming independent from the white banking system and dollar. Because most of our powwow junkies do not have a clue as to what the hell is really going on in Red America. They are like the dead fish in our lakes, streams and our oceans........they go with the flow.
Just recently i was at the Mashkawisen powwow and passed some tobacco to the Spiritual advisor. I shared with him that I too was a Spiritual advisor for the past twenty+ years and that I wanted to bring an issue to his attention. I than began to tell him about a Headdress that was brought to me to honer, protect and live by (a Hereditary Chief). I than, began to share my experience with the Minnesota Department of Human Services as a Native American counselor. I shared that I was a past employee of  Meridian Behavioral Health in East Grand forks, Minnesota.
"I put in my two week notification of leave and within the first week, I had to file a mandated report. The report was in regards to my boss the executive director messing and taking advantage of one of our Native women. After my two week notice was finished I got a letter in the mail from the Department of Human Services stating that they were proceeding with an investigation and that I could participate if I chose to. I than called the investigator at the state building in St. Paul, Mn. After it was all said and finished, I than  received a letter in the mail about a month later which stated that I was at fault and that I could not continue to be a counselor or a PCA for the state of Minnesota. I would like to share my story at this powwow and let future counselors and our Native Peoples know that they will sometimes experience big issues as this and that they are not alone in their battle for sobriety and counseling."
So, the so called Spiritual advisor told me that this was a powwow and that their is a time and place for what I wanted to share, but that the powwow circle was not the right place. So, I kicked his ass and sent him home and took his bustle!!!!!!
Jk. But I listened to what he continued to share, and this is one of many problems that we have to face with some of our "Spiritual people." Who his teachers were, I dont know. But I think this guy has drank too much fluoride ridden water, tooth paste and aluminum. When we ingest Fluoride, a by-product of the aluminum industry-we become very docile, passive people and don't know how to fight. Something else I could have shared with new sobrietees and young people. But, when it comes to fighting, i'll probably have to use him for a shield when it comes down to it, cuz every mother fucker is going to try and kill me .........................................To be continued

Facism and physical money

Fascism and money, two things that have contributed to the new cancers affecting Aboriginal peoples. Hate is a learned behavior. Do I hate the White man for how many lies he has told my people. YES!! My people should beable to live in a Wigwam-Tee pee-Hogan-Kichi as long as they are living good traditional lives. We should do away with the western money that comes digitized in the form of our paycheks, grants, bonds and whatnot. Let's start our own currency, to have our own military born in to existence and to beable to call our selves true sovereighn people. Until than, do not talk to me if you do not have the same principals, that includes you OBAMA.  Hell, the system that has been dictated from the inception of this country has been the blue print for our armed forces all the way down to the way we as Natives conduct business. This includes the way we inherit the mass schooling system, lets face it, if we do not become vicious- attack- your class mate- geared children while growing up- we just become beacons in the way of our brothers and sisters who domesticate, lied, cheated and stole-while we were busy fighting-getting suspended and expelled. This happend because we knew that our teachers, special ed. tutors, janitors and counselors were liers, cheaters and who knows, perverts.
I am not a business man that has chosen to learn the system of business that we are forced to live in. I am not an educated man in the system of education that has been forced upon us to learn-if we want NICE THINGS! I am not a military man in the system that has raped, wronged and decimated my people. I am not the blind eyed Aboriginal that has forgotten that their are many injustices that must be faced and owned up too, but they have to be talked about first. I am me. I am aboriginal. I do not need the thirteen original ccolony's money-school text-business-military values, ideas and way of life to define me as an ABORIGINAL. I choose to not have thier ideas and philosophies, I was born without them and I will die without them, but in the mean time, I will stand and unite the TRUE Red man, the TRUE Black man, the True Whiteman and the TRUE Yellow man. To the people that are listening, you are not alone in this god awful country the whiteman calls his own.

Thats life

I just recently sold my Indian car. I must say it was easier this time to let one of my "possessions" go. I mean, I try to live a Traditional Aboriginal life and that means that I try to Honor what my old people taught and instilled into me. But, the sad and great things about living tradition is that most First Nations peoples are to pre-occupied trying to live the life as Canadians and Americans first, than they try and act "traditional."
Today as I drove into the office, I passed my nephews place and he was outside messing with his car, the car that I sold him. First, I cant say it's my "possession" any longer and that was easy to say. It is my nephews first true car and what a joy it brings to me to see him live life and be part of this big old universe. I know its time for the car to move on and to take care of him and his new family. But i must admit, the greedy human side of me wanted to keep it because "Possessions" are what make me feel like I am adequate or something like that. I should say the old teenage-youngadult-middle-adult-person I use to be use to be greedy and full of "possessions."
As I get older and WISER, what I see as relevant and important is starting to keep me humble and STANDING OUT AGAINST MY PEERS AND FELLOW ANISHINABEG. TO BE ME OR TO FOLLOW MY PATH TAKES SINCERE FAITH AND DISCIPLINE. IM NOT PERFECT, BUT I HAVE MY FAITH, THAT IS WHAT DRIVES ME IN THIS WORLD. IT SEEMS AS IF THERE IS HARDLY ANY ABORIGINAL PEOPLE IN THIS PART OF THE WORLD THAT LIVE LIFE FOR THEIR PEOPLE. MOST PEOPLE HAVE LEARNED THE GREEDY GOVERNMENT AND EDUCATION  PRINCIPALS OF DIVIDE AND CONQUER, THAT MOST ABORIGINALS ARE TRYING TO CONQUER THEIR OWN LIVES, WITH THE GOVERNMENTS VAST FISAUD OF LIFELESS APPLICATIONS IN THE MANY FORMS IT TAKES.
FOR LONG AGO CHIEFS, THE PRINCIPAL OF KEEPING THINGS FOR ONES OWN PERSONAL GAIN WAS UN-HEARD OF. HAVING A WHITE-MANS POSSESSION MEANT THAT YOU HAD MORE TO TEACH AND MORE TO USE AGAINST THE WHITE MAN. WHEN A MEMBER OF THE TRIBE GAINED SOMETHING THE WHOLE TRIBE PROSPERED. I THINK THAT IS THE WRONG THING TO TEACH THE YOUTH OF AMERICA AND THE YOUTH OF ABORIGINAL NORTH AMERICA. WE FEED OUR CHILDREN THE POISONED-SOUPED UP ENERHY DRINKS AND FOOD-THAT-WE COLLECTIVELY DON'T THINK OF THE AFFECTS WE ARE TEACHING OUR CHILDREN. WHEN OUR CHILDREN BUY AN ENERGY DRINK, PICE OF CANDY, A TOY, A BOOK-ARE THEY QUICK TO TAKE IT BACK TO THEIR COMMUNITIES AND SHARE IT WITH THE COMMUNITY. PROBABLY NOT! I MUST ADMIT I AM TO BLAME, BUT I DON'T WANT OT BE PART OF THE PROBLEM ANY LONGER BUT IT IS HARD AS HELL WHEN MOST OF OUR PEOPLE LIVE TOO MANY WHITE PRINCIPALS AND DONT WANT TO TRUST THE OLD TRADITIONAL VALUES SUCH AS "GIVE AWAY." THE WHITE-MANS DOLLAR HAS EVERYONE'S TRADITIONAL VALUE SYSTEM ALL F$%^@ UP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Money, Zhooniya, Pesos

Just want to put a shout out to the money gods! I am glad that all the ceremonies that i have been involved in with my life, i can say that my Spirit helper did not make me addicted to money. I can live without money. But dammit, why cant our Aboriginal peoples refuse money all together? and than when something like the COBELL settlement comes around, certain people want to go back to the "Fort" mentality and demand to have some of the pie.
How many Aboriginal people know their creation stories, yes there is more than one part of a creation story.
If I die today, my wife can pass out all my Spiritual items and I am leaving with out no money, that way my so called extended family cant fight over my possessions. The less of the Euro-American dollar that i have, the more Spiritual I feel and live!!!!!!!!!!!
I wonder how much of the Euro-American dollar I can live without this weekend!!!
